Six parent/artists brainstormed a common theme for the murals — mandalas. Each word — Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality — was given to an appropriate grade. Each grade spent three weeks with the artists, planning and designing, then painting their murals. The result is stunning — five gorgeous, age-appropriate, student-led and designed murals depicting the Quaker values.
It helped students visualize and personalize the Quaker values. The mural debuted at graduation. We plan to use them weekly at Silent Meeting for Worship and at our signature events, like our Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration.
