Mobile Science Lab
Thornton Friends Middle School Contact: Eliahu Persyk We have converted a van into a mobile science lab, enabling a science project that studies the Anacostia River Watershed with soil, air, and water testing. The Mobile Science Lab has greatly enhanced our middle school science curriculum, allowing us to perform precise scientific testing of environmental conditions at many study sites in the area. To construct the van, two science teachers, parents, and volunteers, gutted the van and built a storage box and kid size lab counter. We keep all of the equipment in the box and utilize the counter to process our samples. A generator was also purchased to enable us to operate a labtop and digital microscope in the field, so we can immediately assess the specimens we collect. |
