Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school located in Washington, DC, seeks an Interim 7th and 8th grade English teacher as a sabbatical replacement for its Middle School division. The successful candidate will be an experienced teacher of English, specializing in writing, literature, and grammar. He/she will have a clear understanding of the needs of the age group, be able to work cooperatively with a group of adults in a team setting, be comfortable in and excited about working with children from diverse backgrounds, and actively support the Quaker philosophy that underlies the School. Other duties include sponsorship of community service activities and teaching an advisory curriculum. A bachelor's degree and three years of teaching experience is required.
This one-semester interim appointment is for the second half of the 2018-19 school year only, beginning in mid-January, 2019.
