In concert with the Leadership Team, the next Lower School Principal will be an experienced leader and change agent who will be responsible for inspiring the Lower School community toward the realization and implementation of a strong vision and goals. The ideal candidate will have a background that demonstrates most, if not all, of the following:

Ability to articulate the vision of Friends Academy and to inspire the lower school faculty in implementing that vision.

Demonstrated expertise in curricular and pedagogical best practices at the lower school level.

Proactive, timely and effective communication skills with all stakeholder groups including parents, students, faculty and community partners.

Demonstrated success in leading change and innovation within a school context.

A warm, compassionate approach to the lower school child and an understanding of the many facets of her/his journey.

A leadership approach that includes deep listening of many voices and an ability to make decisions when needed.

Teaching and administrative experience at the lower school level.

A sense of humor, a strong sense of self, and a deep love for the lower school child.

An advanced degree is preferred.
