Full-time, 10 months, Exempt

The Upper School (grades 9-12) seeks candidates for a full-time, permanent position in our Science Department. We seek a dynamic, self-motivated, and multifaceted professional for a full-time Science teacher position. The Upper School Science Department prepares scholars to investigate their world by developing scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills through inquiry-based science immersion. The ideal candidate will support the Science Department mission while teaching beginner through advanced level courses in life sciences and chemistry for grades 9-12. Experience in teaching Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and/or Chemistry is strongly preferred. We seek an individual who is  dynamic, professional, and comfortably implements student-centered, inquiry-based learning strategies. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the position includes advising and leading experiential learning for students. Depending on the candidate’s interests and the needs of the School, the position may include additional opportunities such as coaching and/or other co-curricular activities.

Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in science or closely related field and a master’s degree is desirable. Candidates will have, at a minimum, one year of full-time high school teaching experience.  Advanced Placement course experience is preferred, but not required. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work with Upper School students in a supportive college-preparatory environment. Candidates should possess basic computer literacy for both administrative and instructional purposes, strong interpersonal, and written communications skills. Knowledge of Quaker history and education is desirable, but not required.
