William Penn Charter School seeks a full-time Middle School Mandarin Chinese Teacher to begin in the 2019-2020 academic year. The successful candidate will embrace student-centered pedagogy and technology use in the classroom, model curiosity and a desire for professional growth, and exhibit a willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues. Native or near native fluency in Mandarin and English is required and experience teaching grades 6 - 8 is a plus. TPRS training and/or experience is preferred.
This position includes: teaching sixth grade Chinese, seventh grade Chinese I, eighth grade Chinese 1, and one class of Upper School Chinese III. The successful candidate would also have interest and experience in leading or chaperoning international student travel. A full-time teaching load includes the teaching of four classes with multiple preparations as well as engagement in an extracurricular activity. Examples include: coaching, community service, assisting with a theatrical performance, or sponsoring clubs. Familiarity with the principles and practices of the Religious Society of Friends is highly desirable.
