SUMMARY:  Responsible for the day-to-day operational cash management of the school and maintaining records for all financial transactions.  Assists the Controller with billing and management of receivables as well as reconciliation of the General Ledger.


  • Maintain daily cash log and monitor daily cash balances to forecast cash requirements.
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable Associate to upload positive pay file to bank for weekly check run, and, as needed.
  • Reconcile bank statements to the General Ledger; including identifying and resolving discrepancies. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that all cash transactions and records are accurate, complete, and in compliance with GAAP.
  • Provides strategic financial input regarding procedures, policies and controls related to cash management.
  • Prepare and post payroll entries to General Ledger; includes reconciling general ledger to payroll reports.
  • Prepare and post year-end payroll and vacation accruals to General Ledger.
  • Assist the Controller in reconciling other various general ledger accounts to source documents and related reports.
  • Upload billing transactions from Point of Sale system (CounterPoint) to student billing system (FACTS), including preparation of appropriate journal entries to record sales and receivables to the General Ledger.
  • Assist in managing receivables, including monitoring and collecting student and employee receivables.
  • Take deposits to Bank on an as needed basis.
  • Serve as a back up to the Business Office Associate and/or Accounting/Accounts Payable Associate when absent.
  • Assist visitors as needed; determine nature of business, and direct visitors to destination. 
  •  Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Applicant Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business is preferred.
  • Two years of related experience and/or training required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.Experience with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge and/or other common accounting and software packages are strongly preferred.
  • Must have strong analytical skills.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, be dependable, and have strong communication skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, telephone manners, organization skills, and the ability to work with independence in dealing with the diverse elements of the academic environment.
  • This position requires absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
