Friends School Mullica Hill, a Quaker day school serving 132 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade, seeks a dynamic and experienced educational leader to serve as the inaugural Director of Global Learning. The new Director will be primarily responsible for launching the Center for Global and Service Learning for the 2019-2020 school year.
Friends School Mullica Hill empowers students to achieve their full potential and become responsible global citizens by providing a comprehensive academic program infused with Quaker values in a diverse and inclusive learning community.
Center for Global and Service Learning
In fulfilling our mission of “empowering students to . . . become responsible global citizens,” the Friends School Mullica Hill curriculum has included global learning programs for years and has always had a particular focus on community service.
Building upon these strengths, the Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the Center for Global and Service Learning, to be launched with the start of the 2019-2020 school year. The Center will promote school-wide engagement in global learning through an inquiry-based and transdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning in which students take responsibility for their learning and develop their voices. Global and local issues will be explored through real-world experiences with a high degree of collaboration, and service opportunities will be highly integrated into the curriculum.
The Center for Global and Service Learning will bring global experiences to our students and community, both in person and virtually through the use of technology, and will oversee travel and service programs. It will also develop partnerships with other schools and organizations. In accomplishing all of these goals, we expect the Center will become a resource for other schools and organizations in the region.
This is an exciting opportunity for Friends School and especially for our students, who will be even more empowered to be responsible global citizens as they venture out into the world.
Director of Global Learning
This is also an exciting opportunity for a passionate and globally-minded educator to lead our faculty in further strengthening components of the academic program that are essential to this school community. The Director will serve on the Administrative Team and have the following primary responsibilities:

Provide and oversee professional development for inquiry-based, transdisciplinary, project-based, and service learning
Oversee travel and service programs, including the week-long eighth grade trip to Costa Rica.
- Develop partnerships and relationships with peer schools (local and international), Rowan University, and other organizations to enhance global and service learning
- Explore the feasibility of an international student program
- Teach one section of a class (subject and grade level to be determined)
