Friends Council on Education along with Abington Friends School and the Race Institute sponsored a public screening ofI'm Not Racist, Am I? at the Hiway Theater in Jenkintown, PA in November 2017. Our hope has been to increase community conversation about race in order to make a positive change in the world. Unfortunately, there are daily reminders in the media to let us know this hard, important anti-racist work is crucial and ongoing.

Since the screening, a diverse group of community members has come together for several thoughtful conversations about our own recent experiences with race. We have discussed the concepts of systemic racism and implicit bias and brainstormed about where we get our ideas about race. Also, we practiced some strategies for interrupting racism when we encounter it. One tool we explored was the 21 Day Journal of Anti-Racist actions. We’ll explore this tool at our next conversation. We hope you’ll join us.

Peggy Macintosh's "Knapsack of White Privilege” will help inform our conversation about the need for ongoing anti-racist work, perhaps using the recent Starbucks incident as a jumping off point.

Please join us for this important community conversation. We have to keep working together to understand one another's points of view and to help keep one another safe and thriving in our community.

No need to have attended any of the other conversations to join us for this one.
Everyone is welcome! Bring a friend!
