Let Your Life Speak 2025

Reflection & Connection for Educators of Color

As we head towards the winter break and usher in a new year, this is a natural time for reflection and connection. Especially this week, we wanted to provide a space for people of color in the Friends Council network to come together, engage in meaningful professional development, and debrief our year so far in both our professional and personal lives.

In response, Friends Council, in partnership with Germantown Friends School, has created a virtual gathering specifically for people of color working in our Friends school network. We hope this space offers exactly what is needed right now: grounding, inspiration, and time to be in community.

During this session, participants will hear from an outstanding panel of leaders of color:

  • Brenda Crawley, former Head of Plymouth Meeting School

  • Dr. Darryl Ford, former Head of Penn Charter School; VP of Education Leadership Services, Carney Sandoe

  • Angela Garcia, Head of Near North Montessori School

  • Dana Weeks [moderator], Head of Germantown Friends School

They’ll share wisdom on preparing for and sustaining your leadership journey as a person of color in independent schools. We will also move into small-group breakouts for deeper processing and connection.

This gathering is free of charge, open to all people of color working in FCE schools, and requires advance registration.

Please feel free to pass this invitation along to colleagues of color in your community—tomorrow’s space is for all of us.

Thank you for the essential work you do every day to help our schools become places of belonging and flourishing. We look forward to being with you.
