The Friends Council's Spirited Practice and Renewed Courage (SPARC) program is a leadership development program based on principles from Parker Palmer's "Courage to Teach" work.
A group of twenty teachers from Friends schools are selected to take part in this collaborative community, using reflective tools for self-directed professional development.

Deborra Sines Pancoe

Deborra is an educator who has served in a variety of roles: teacher, division director, dean, department chair and program coordinator, librarian, and board member. As the Associate Director for Friends Council, Deborra developed the Membership Renewal/Quaker Self-Study Process and she led professional development workshops. Although she has retired from FCE, she maintains her role as program leader for the SPARC spiritual development program (Spirited Practice & Renewed Courage) and for the Quaker Pilgrimage to England. Deborra’s consulting focus is on governance, Quaker life, and the Meeting-school relationship. Deborra serves her community by holding an elected seat on the Jenkintown Borough Council. She is a member of Abington Quaker Meeting, currently Meeting Clerk. Deborra co-leads a SEED diversity seminar for Friends schools. Deborra focuses on working for peace and social justice; anti-bias and personal transformation; and guiding people of all ages to develop and deepen their spiritual selves.
