Film Screening: Broken on All Sides A Great Success

Photo from L-to-R: Dr. Kimbery McGlonn, moderator of the "talk-back", Toni Graves Williamson (Friends Select School), Mary Lynn Ellis (Abington Friends School), Matt Pillischer (Filmmaker and Abington Friends alum), Deborra Sines Pancoe (Friends Council on Education), and Galen Tyler (organizer with Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign).

Abington Friends School, Friends Council in Education, and Friends Select School presented an evening with Filmmaker and Abington Friends alum Matthew Pillischer. His documentary explores the Philadelphia jail system and mass incarceration centering around the theory put forward by many, and most recently by Michelle Alexander, (who appears in the movie) that mass incarceration has become "The New Jim Crow." The screening was followed by a discussion with Director/Producer Matt Pillischer and Galen Tyler, organizer with Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign.
